The Great Sage: Confucius
More than 2,500 years ago, a man, adhering to his ideals all his life and with aspirations for the great harmony of his country, was pursuing a goal of setting the heart upon righteousness, supporting oneself by virtue, leaning upon benevolence, seeking enjoyment and relaxation in the six arts. Although facing countless difficulties and failures, he never had changed his mind. After a lifetime of hard experiences he eventually became a great sage. He is Confucius, a well-known sage in China, a great thinker, politician, educator, and the founder of Confucianism.
Confucianism, based on the theory of "benevolence and courtesy", has endured over 2,500 years. It has profoundly influenced Chinese people in different aspects, such as their thoughts, culture, art and social life. It represents the deepest spiritual character and cultural core of the Chinese nation. Meanwhile, during the process of spreading overseas, Confucianism has also become the core of East Asian civilization, and a pearl in world civilizations. Confucius has also become a representative for Chinese culture to gain a foothold in the world.
After more than four years of preparation and an improvement to the former exhibition “Confucian Culture”, “The Great Sage: Confucius” represents the true Confucius, Confucianism and the essence of Confucius’ thoughts, on a basis of a comprehensive, detailed, scientific, in-depth exploration of Confucian cultural resources.
Through high-tech displaying technologies such as multi-media and animation, the exhibition is aimed at make visitors, in a relaxing and interactive atmosphere, learn about a real Confucius, understand the profound Confucianism, derive wisdom from the Sage, explore the essence of Confucianism, and pass on positive energy. And then it is hoped to promote outstanding traditional Chinese culture, enhance people’s national pride and self-confidence, and strengthen national cohesion and centripetal force.
